A JC Penney catalog from 1977

Somebody forwarded me these pictures. They are from a JC Pennny catalog from 1977!! Hope this brightens up your (drab) work day. Be careful not to bust a gut laughing.

And my favorite, look at the boxy vests and shirts.

Lovely handbags that won't break your bank

Well, it's the first day back at work. I'm sure you all have lots of catching up, but we're in still in the holiday mode, right? So it's a lazy day. What's a better way to kill a coffee break than looking at some cute bags that don't further dig a deeper hold in your credit card debt? January's all about paying off our credit cards and still shopping...wisely.

Yah Croco Grain Boston Bag $52. Love the old chest look of this bag. The Y logo kinda looks like the keyhole on an antique chest. I'm going to attempt at dressing a little more sophisticatedly in the new year, and this would definitely help.

59 Seconds Metal Handle Patent Clutch $75 $56.25. This one reminds me of Fendi Patent leather clutch, this one is simpler though, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you are not into beadings and sequins on a bag. The black patent, sparkly silver handle and chain give the bag enough glam, great for a New Year's eve party.

Nabi Quilted Frame Bag $108. Truthfully quilted bags will never go out of style. Until I can afford a quilted bag from Chanel, ones like this is pretty fantastic too, and it's glossy and over-sized, my favorite things.

Jvin Check Bucket Tote $35. Such a cozy-looking bag for the winter, isn't it? Love the wool plaid. It's not a big bag, so it's better suited for a petite girl. Pair it with a parka and furry boots for maximum on the cute-o-meter.

MAXX NEW YORK Sonata Satchel $135 $84.90. Gorgeous shade of red, and the roomy shape and side pockets don't hurt either.

Abas Croco SL Clutch $100 $50. Takes the elegance of your look up a notch with a white clutch. I love that it's not shiny with just the right amount of hardware, great for day wear.

Alloy's CHAIN SATCHEL $29. A little bit of chain, a little bit of ruching make a cute tote for everyday use.

BILLABONG Talus Handbag - Black/Teal BILLABONG Talus Handbag - Black/Teal $31.99. I think I featured this one before, another cozy-looking bag!

Deal Alert - Zoe D Black Knit Dress

I wanted to get a knit dress on Boxing Day sale, but didn't see anything I liked. This Zoe D Black Knit Dress $158 $59.99 at SmartBargains.com would've been perfect, another knit dress that looks so flattering on the body. The cropped sleeves and deep scooped neckline are very slimming. The a-line skirt has a big of ruching at the front for a nice detailed touch. I'd layer something bright like a sequin top underneath for some wow factor.

Interesting shoe

I'm not big on the loaf-style shoes (flat or high), but there's something different and unique about these Purplow Handmade Big Ribon Loafers ($182 $91) that I'm drawn to, considering they are marketed towards men. But I think they are way too feminine for men. The smooth wooden texture, glossy finish, and the long ribbons, they are much better suited to go with a pair of slim pants or a mini shift dress.

Maxim's Fashion Trends for Idiots - suits with shorts

(Junya Watanabe Spring 2008)

You gotta love it when Maxim magazine takes a stab at fashion trends that your regular guys just cannot understand. I'd say listen to them or your friends will make fun of you. This month's Fashion Trends for Idiots is on suits with shorts:

If watching your local UPS guy wear shorts to work isn't enough to make you shudder, let this photo complete the job. Several designers are debuting suits with shorts as one of the big fashion trends to watch in 2008. Another big trend: ridiculing anyone who wear shorts with a suit who doesn't play guitar for AC/DC.

And on that note, cropped tuxedo jacket on skirt is unacceptable too. This one is practically scandalous.

Laura Dahl dresses

Sure I love pretty prints and details like ruffles and laces. But I'm also a big fan of clean lines and chic structured-ness. Laura Dahl's dresses stand out simply because of their edgy and innovative designs and superb cutting.

New Year's resolutions

Happy New Year everybody!! A new year for a new beginning! Do you have any new year's resolutions? I have a few every year and they are pretty much the same ones that I need to work on.

- Eat healthier for my overall health, especially for my skin and hair. Listen to my parents and follow Chinese food therapy, and eat things like goji berries, bird's nest soup, royal jelly and many other weird-sounding things. They don't taste good but they give you plump smooth skin and shiny hair over time.

- Exercise more. God knows I have enough fitness equipment and exercise videos at home to use.

- Be more diligent about my beauty routine. Get facials, manis and pedis or do my own facials regularly, stay on top of throughout the year, not just once in a while when I feel like it and then let it lag behind.

- Shop more! I mean, shop more discriminatingly and less impulsively, especially when it comes to sales. This one rule -- if you can't wear it with anything in your closet, don't buy it -- I should apply more.

- Spend less time on eBay and more time with my family.

What are your new year's resolutions? Please share.

Tinz TV? I hope it's true!

Anyone who cares about or follows the society world of NYC knows Tinsley Mortimer is the IT girl on the scene. She gets a lot of flack for being a social climber and appearing in the media non-stop. True or not, I still quite like her style. I love her perfect blond hair, doesn't she look adorable? I read in The New York Observer that she might get her own TV series. Well, I hope it's true! She admits that she's "never done effortless chic well. I do better looking very feminine with everything tucked into its place", which works for her I think. She sticks to her own style even though some people criticize her.
And I like the look of her Samantha Thavasa bags judging from the party pictures she's in carrying them. They seem hip, bold, and trendy, which definitely has a place in a girl's wardrobe. I hope she does do a TV show, I'll keep my eyes peeled.
