Cocktail bling

I used to think cocktail rings are kind of gaudy. But I've come to like them more and more. The trend of dressing up your fingers and wearing outrageously big/shiny rings is definitely in. Sometimes a such ring is all you need for accessorizing.

Swarovski Bugs Ring $255. Can you see the snake motif? What a cool design! I'd feel wicked wearing it like it had some kind of magical power.

Fantasia by DeSerio
Cocktail Ring, Emerald, Clear, Sapphire $385 at Neiman Marcus.

Crislu Cubic Zirconia Cushion Cut Ring with Side Stones $98 at Bloomingdale's.

Crislu Cubic Zirconia Floral Filagree Ring $125 at Bloomingdale's.

Lab-Created Pink Sapphire Heart Ring in 10K White Gold with Diamond Accents $169 on sale for $99 at Zales.

And of course there's an abundance of cocktail rings on eBay. You can snatch many up for cheaps.

Angelina's Vogue pictures

I can't say that I'm a big fan of Angelina Jolie, but her January Vogue cover and pictures are so artistically beautiful. I especially love the picture of her and Brad on the bike and the wind and sand dancing around them. It's something I'd hang on a wall of my house. What do you think of these?

BussBuss.com Giveaway!

We don't need an excuse.

So I was listening to CBC Radio this morning and this philosophy professor was saying that Christmas SHOULD be a commercial holiday, that we shouldn't feel guilty about buying lots of gifts and receiving lots of gifts, and that we should enjoy the secular aspect of Christmas. Well, that's refreshing. Not that people haven't been doing just that for a very long time now, but it's interesting to hear somebody actually say it out loud.

So charge forward, my friends! Shop to your hearts' content.

I'm taking advantage of the lunch hour for more shopping (an hour is not much time, hope I can be productive).

Pretty lace overlay

I love lace overlay on dresses. It's feminine and elegant, and instantly upgrades an otherwise simple dress or blouse. They are perfect for the holiday seasons!

Banana Republic Silk pleated dress $148. Such understated sexiness in this dress! The lace is sheer and light, it creates a beautiful shadowy silhouette.

Banana Republic Silk pleated skirt $108.

Betsey Johnson Strapless Battenburg Lace Dress $300. Love LOVE this dress! The deep purple lace is a refreshing substitute for black.

Anthropologie nutcracker sweet blouse $128. Funny that it's called "nutcracker sweet blouse", 'cause as soon as I saw this one I thought it'd be perfect for a night at the ballet. You'd feel like a ballerina without having to wear a tutu.

Anthropologie black barley tunic $168. This one has such the glamour of the Golden '20s. I'd be tempted to layer on long gold necklaces, but the amazing embroidery would still over shadow any necklaces.

Walk the distance!

Continue with the Christmas shopping today. One thing that is important is that you must wear comfortable shoes while on a marathon shopping excursion. I always flats. These are so comfortable, I can walk for hours and hours. They are black with a dark jade green/grey colored trimmings, although you can't really see it 'cause my camera sucks.

Gucci
bronze metallic logo flats $320.40. You could be wearing a potato sack and you'd still look glamorous in these.

Delman Shoes
hunter green quilted velvet 'Worthy' flats $143.10. Possibily the most comfortable-looking flats I've ever seen. The color's so rich.

Sugar Solid Buckle Skimmers $29.99. What an unexpected color combo on flats. Your feet can look cute and funky at the same time!

Mod Mary Jane Ballets $38. Double the cuteness!

HOTHEADS Silicone Potholders $10.50. with this cute and handy tool, I might not even mind cooking!

CARAMEL CAFÉ LATTE bar soap $8.50 each, Guest Soaps with Dish $30, delicious scent of a gourmet coffee shop in this truffle blend, a café latte fragrance with a sweet creamy touch of caramel. Gianna Rose Atelier also makes this soap in CRÈME BRULEE scent. YUM!!!

Tunics continued

Tunics by Nicole Miller, Brian Reyes, Derek Lam, Chanel.
Tunics are going to continue to be big in the Spring. That's a no-brainer. Wear with or without a belt, either way it's chic. The length of one is pretty important for me, since I'm not that tall, anything longer than mid-thigh turns into a loose dress, I'd have to wear a belt on the waist, and anything shorter than that compels me to wear pants underneath.

I'm still hoping to get a tunic this winter. I'm coveting this one. Heathered Jersey Cap Sleeve $98 at Freepeople.

This would be perfect!

I thought I found the perfect gift for all my girlfriends, I would've even got one for myself, but alas Ulta does not ship to Canada. *sob*. This makeup kit is so beautifully packaged, it looks like a box of chocolate! Besides looking pretty and yummy, it has everything -- 4 full-size makeup brushes, eye liner pencil, lip liner pencil, and each individual palette contains 4 shades of eyeshadow, 2 lip gloss, 2 translucent pressed powders 2 lip colors and 2 applicator brushes.

Ulta Holiday Blockbuster $19.99

Sweater dresses

I love this dress on Cameron Diaz, it's cute and sexy. If you have a body like Cameron's (damn her!), form-fitting knit dresses are the best to flaunt your curves while not exposing any flesh, not to mention they keep you warm.

Ya-Ya Aspen Cable Sweater Dress in Black $396. Cable sweaters are tricky because they tend to look bulky. This one is quite slimming.

BCBGirls brown ribbed intarsia sweater dress $66. I really like this one, no slouchiness anywhere.

I heart H&M

Yay it's Friday and it's double-date tonight. I wanted to wear something fun. I bought this skirt from H&M almost two years ago and it's still one of my favorite skirts. It's got pretty laces and eyelet patterns that I like so much.

There isn't an H&M store where I live (the closest one's an hour away). I really forward to a trip there this month.

Gift of the day on the Canadian website: Jumper with scarf for $14.90. Perfect with skinny jeans.

Robe $16.90. Love the print!

Shirt dress

Shirt dresses are so easy to wear. I put on my blue pashmina scarf on for some warmth for the office and for a little bit of color. I'd also love a pair of red pumps to go with the black dress and tights (with a warm-colored scarf). I ordered a pair on eBay, still waiting for them to get here!

New Year bashes in Vegas

Anybody going to Vegas to celebrate New Year's? Well, I just went this summer so I won't be going back to Vegas at least until next year.

Apparently Britney Spears, Nicole Richie, Pamela Anderson are going to host New Year bashes at Pure at Caesars Palace, Tangerine at Treasure Island, and Tao's party at the Venetian, respectively. Now you know which clubs to hit...Or to avoid.

Holiday gift ideas part 2

Pretty jewelry boxes are great for girlfriends. I know I wouldn't mind getting one myself. But rather than looking for a traditional chest-shaped jewelry box or a porcelain music-box one, go for something fun and unique.

Oval Swivel-Top Jewelry Box $59.95. I love this one's modern look and its unique design.

Embossed Angel Jewelry Box, India $40.99. Not your typical jewelry box, a great piece of art to add to your bedroom decor.

Personalized Jewelry Roll $15.20, great for travel and even better for everyday use. Features a washable nylon fabric inside and out with two zipper compartments and a removable ring holder. This is a nifty idea. I never know how to pack my jewelry. They usually end up squashed or scattered all over in the suitcase.

Now if you have tons of precious jewelry and you are meticulous about keeping them in perfect condition, this one could be useful...if you care more about the function of course. It looks like an office binder to me.
PreZerve Fashion Forward Organizer, $19.93 (today only at The Shopping Channel). Apparently it can keep up to 300 pieces of jewellery inside! The special carbon based woven fabric actually helps keep your precious treasures from tarnishing -- silver can stay beautiful for up to 50 years when properly stored in this PreZerve Organizer!

High-voltage shine!!

Metallic is definitely big this winter. I'm still a little timid about wearing something really really shiny, you definitely don't want to look like you are wearing futuristic spacesuits or a robot. So I'm more leaning towards accessories to add some sparkle. What I want most are a metallic clutch and pumps.

ASOS has some great metallic pieces that I'm thinking of getting.

Glitter Clipframe Clutch £10.

Urban Decay Metallic Collection, Strip £11. How cool is this eyeshadow! Although I'm not quite sure how I'd apply it. On the whole eyelid or just the crease?

Crystal Butterfly Ring £6. Perfect for a party!

gojane has some great designer inspired shoes. And you can't beat the prices.

pazzaz $27.99.
These shoes will lighten up any of your black cocktail dresses!

Gerard Yosca makes some of the prettiest crystal necklaces. You can get this Bird Necklace $110.00 on sale for $65.00 on eLuxury. There are also a spider necklace and a skull necklace if you like them funky.

If you have a few spare hundreds/thousands of $$ to spend or you know Santa's going to be really really good to you, put these babies on your wish list.

Versace Quilted Snap Out of It Bag Large Metallic $2,075.00. Such impeccable details. Just gorgeous.

Roberto Cavalli
Strappy leather sandals $1,285. Hmm...how many crystals are on this?
