A neat trick about inner-rim eyeliner
So you know how I was whining about how hard it is to apply the inner-rim eyeliners on my Asian eyes and that I just gave up? I can't tell you how jealous I am of my friend Gigi who has big doll eyes with perfectly spaced creases, which make her the perfect candidate for the sexy inner-rim eyeliner look. I personally love the look. However, she insists that inner-rim eyeliners make her eyes look smaller (she's obsessed with having big eyes at all times). And then we were flipping through my FASHION magazine, there was a nifty little tip on making your eyes look bigger by wearing inner-rim eyeliners. 'Makeup artists couldn't get enough of rimming eyes with inky black liquid this season. But they also used WHITE LINER on the lower inner rims to make the eyes look brighter and bigger for the runway. "It's a little kind of trompe l'oeil," says runway makeup artist Dick Page. For real life, he suggests not using a pure white and to apply with a light hand. "You don't want it to look like a white chalk line inside the eye."'
So there you have it, if you are concerned with your eyes appearing smaller with black eyeliner all around, you can try this one out. For me, I can only stick with the white eyeliner on the bottom and skip the black eyeliner altogether. Le sigh.

It's an old Hollywood makeup artist trick from the 1930s. The white inner lid liner makes the eye look larger, dark inner liner closes the eye in. To go one step further, you can put just the tiniest little red dot in the inside corner of your eye (say with a lipstick brush) - that little pin prick makes the whites of your eyes look whiter. Mostly the red dot trip is for photo shoots, but try it sometime :)
