Ask Petite Chou - Fall trends

"Hi, I found your blog on the internet, I really enjoy reading it! I hope you can answer a few of questions I have about the latest trends. Are baby doll shirts still in? How about skinny jeans? And will jumpers with tights/skinny jeans still be in for fall? What are the fall trends anyways? Thanks so much from a Texan girl who's trying to shop for fall AND hang on to her old clothes!

Linda, are you reading my mind? :) I hear you, I don't want to throw out all my old clothes either. I don't claim to be expert (or clairvoyant) on fall trends, I'm also trying to figure this out. Perhaps we can all pool our ideas together (comments anybody?). From I've seen, babydoll shirts, skinny jeans (I know a lot of people are happy to see them go), and jumpers and tights, and all those good things aren't exactly going away yet. But it'll be all about layering and adding more solid and vibrant colors and mixing different textures together, like layering a rich dark colored cashmere turtleneck under your babydoll shirt, throwing on a piece of chunky knitwear over a babydoll dress, pairing a cropped jacket with a tunic or jumper, etc. Jumpers are super cute, I absolutely cannot throw out my jumpers. So maybe update your tights collection, get different colors and textures, some are really funky as long as you are comfortable with that. And knee-high socks (sexy!), they will go great with boots. The premium demin labels are still making those skinny jeans although I'm sure people aren't rushing out to get them now. But they are still great when paired with form-fitting tunics and tucked in boots.

Some of the fall trends that I've observed are funky knits (not your mom's prim cardigan), various shades of grey (it's the new black this season), shockingly bright colors, lots of leather and exotic skins, high-shine patent and metallics (still going strong), etc. While you cannot get a brand new wardrobe, you can try to incorporate these into your existing one.
