Spanx - Hollywood's best friend

Read this articled Spanx, you're welcome in Toronto Star today. I've heard it does wonder to the body's silhouette. It's unbelievable that so many thin movie stars wear Spanx, too. No wonder they look so perfect. I watched Tyra Banks show the other day on which she wore a tube body suit (all the audience members did, too) and retaliated against the tabloids laughing at that "fat" picture of her in a bathing suit and advocated healthy body image. Well, she said she weighed 161 pounds and supposedly that was how much she weighed in that taboild picture, but she looked completely different. She looked trim, no bulges or rolls anywhere. Now I think she MUST've been wearing Spanx underneath her tight body suit. I got nothing against that. If Spanx can do that, then that's great. At least I can be comforted by knowing that when I'm middled-aged and, God forbid, start having love handles, I can wear Spanx :P

...

And now you can fudge the “thin,” even if you are the size of a hand puppet like Jada Pinkett Smith, who claims she worries about muffin top. “I wear one of those elastic waist cinchers, because you would not believe how small those dresses are,” she told People magazine.
Odds are the waist cincher was made by Spanx, described as “Hollywood’s Big Secret” by In Touch mag.
Devotees of the line of body shapers include such booty beautifuls as Beyoncé, Tyra Banks, Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Katie Couric and Vanna White, who lifted her skirt on air to show off her Spanx to Oprah, arguably the line’s biggest fan.
Oprah loves the Spanx footless pantyhose, slimmers and Power Panties so much, she has devoted entire segments about the brand on her king-making show, including one that aired Feb. 1.
“Oprah’s team spent a day filming at the factory,” says Barbara Paikin, owner of Toronto-based Only Accessories, the distributor of the line in Canada. And out of the mouths of Oprah acolytes ..... “Spanx never paid for advertising,” she points out.
Paikin has been repping the line for six years. The association was serendipitous, through her daughter-in-law Stephanie, who now works for her. Sara Blakely, a former stand-up and a Florida State University grad, invented the line in 2000 when she couldn’t find a comfy shaper to wear under a pair of white Calvin Klein stretch pants. And she’s only a size 2 or 4.

Why do women who are the size of a stick need to wear body shapping products?

I am a size 2/4 and I wear Spanx often. I am a black girl and I'm thin, but I have a "behind" and athletic legs. Most panties don't cover my backside properly or give the needed support when I wear tailored slacks so I won't jiggle when i walk (believe me, small girls jiggle too and most of the time that's not appropriate). On the other hand, when I wear a sleek dress, I don't want lines from my undergraments and Spanks prevents that line AND creates extra curve by shaping that area. Many women have body issues, regardless of size, that they address in different ways. Rather than starving myself to fit a dress that I insist on wearing even though its a tad snug on the bottom, I'll pay $50 for a temporary fix!

Ya Cherish you're so right! Curves in the right places and smooth lines are what we want regardless of our sizes.
